With success comes new problems. First, being a family business, Griley Airfreight's technology assets were managed by a single person, who, upon leaving, left the company in a critical situation. Technology had become a core part of their business; without it, they could not operate. Second, while the technology was impressive given the small team that built it, Griley Airfreight had just entered the technology arena; with the new success, cracks were starting to show; reliability was becoming an issue. They needed an interim CTO to help them regain complete control of their technology assets, deploy them to a new cloud environment, hire a development team, and get their engineering processes back on track.
The Wilder Innovation team was brought in as interim CTOs to help Griley Airfreight recover and secure their technology assets, deploy them to a new cloud environment, and hire a development team to get their engineering processes back on track. We started by analyzing their existing technology stack and identifying areas where we could modernize it. We then helped them fully migrate to the cloud, which reduced costs and improved scalability.
We established software engineering best practices like code reviews, set up a staging environment, and set up continuous integration, which improved the quality of their code resulting in fewer outages and higher velocity. We also helped define their product roadmap and managed their overall software architecture. In addition to this, our team leads their sprints and runs the entire software development lifecycle. We also assist with coaching their engineers to ensure that they are developing their skills and keeping up with industry best practices.
With the help of Wilder Innovation, Griley Airfreight has regained control of its technology assets, streamlined its SDLC, and fully migrated to the cloud. Our team's efforts have significantly improved code quality, resulting in fewer outages and higher productivity.
